Polar Bears

…are by far the only living things that would enjoy living in Iowa in the winter. Penguins I guess… they might like it too. Point is, it just keeps getting colder. every. single. day. So seriously, what’s a family to do when it’s 0* out? Well, today the McCloy family went to church, and then went swimming. I know, sounds crazy. Cooper’s friend Jake (the cutie with the mile long eyelashes that used to live next door to us in town) and his family met us at the indoor pool so the boys could hang out a little. Jake is 6 months older then Cooper and such a cute kid. We hardly ever see him with our crazy schedules. I really miss them being right next door. The boys played almost every night at least for a few minutes because it was so handy sharing a backyard. I’m going to make more of an effort to get them together more often. It doesn’t hurt that we like Jake’s Mom and Dad too. It would be convenient for me if Cooper has a best buddy in a few years that I’m not scared to send him to a sleep over with. I don’t think I’ll be a paranoid Mom, but if you can stack the deck early, why not? Cooper had a blast swimming today. We stayed for two hours (long enough for Coop’s lips to start turning blue) and he would have stayed for two more. After a long hot bath at home, he napped better then he has in weeks.
For the few of you who have asked, YES we are definitely going to find out what the baby is. The sonogram to find out is scheduled for February 12th. I’m excited to see if I need to start unpacking boxes of stored boy stuff, or if we’re going to be starting over at square one. I guess if it’s a girl I could just let her wear all of Cooper’s clothes and just by her a cute hat that says “I’m not a boy”. Would that make me a bad Mom?
