Nanook of the North & the Devil Child

We had OUR family photos shot this past week.  It was scheduled for Friday, but because of the incoming "winter mix" we moved it up to Wednesday.  It was pretty windy out, but plenty warm for baby Grady to show his bare piggys.  Cooper was in DEVIL CHILD form.  He is always so happy… except for when we shoot family photos.  I can't remember the last time he behaved so badly… oh ya… I can… it was last December on our LAST family photo shoot.  I hired an up and coming photographer from here in Iowa, Amanda McLeod.  It was the first time she had ever shot another photographer's family so she was picking my brain a little.  When Cooper had a TOTAL breakdown Otey took him up to our house to get a drink.  Amanda asked me, "what do you do on a shoot if you have a kid like this?".  I told her if I had the same situation I would just wait.  I also told her the good news is I've never had a client with a kid as naughty as mine was being.  I don't know if it's because he is so camera ruined and so the lady with the camera is old news, or if he just has a little naughty kid radar that knows that if I could choose one single day a year for him to be happy it would be family photo day… but MAN was he bad.  Crying, yelling, whining, and even a few loud shouts of "NO!" when poor Amanda would try and get his attention.  I told her when we were done that I would be happy if she had three good shots, not to stress over it.  Oh man was I pleasantly surprised when I got her email telling me she had posted a sneak peak for me.  I specifically told her I didn't care about people looking at the camera, or posed photos, I just wanted photos of my family just being together.  So far… she nailed it.  Check out my sneak peak HERE.

I don't know if that's how you spell Nanook, and to be truthful, I don't even know who Nanook of the North is, but my Mom used to always say that when we were all bundled up. Anyway, that's what I call Grady in his way fun hat the G-ma McCloy brought him last week.
